Portugal signs ELIXIR Memorandum of Understanding

Portugal has joined ELIXIR, the major European undertaking to safeguard the results of life science research. Portugal is the 14th nation to sign the ELIXIR Memorandum of Understanding (MoU): a first formal but non-binding step towards the implementation of this key research infrastructure.
Bread wheat genome analysed

The first analysis of the complex and exceptionally large bread wheat genome is a major breakthrough in breeding wheat varieties that are more productive and better able to cope with disease, drought and other stresses that cause crop losses. The data are available in Ensembl Plants.
